The Storm

A few days ago, devastating tornadoes destroyed parts of Alabama leaving behind 24 deaths with many people still missing. 

My heart breaks for all of them, but one family in particular that lost 7 family members in one day.  I cannot imagine the grief they’re experiencing and my prayers go out to them.  

Years ago, the movie, Twister was released, and it portrayed a group of meteorologists chasing across the heartland as tornadoes devoured everything in their paths.  I personally would find no thrill or enjoyment in that exercise.  The thing that was obvious to me was even in the midst of raging winds there would often be moments of calm.  It was revealed that that was because the storm chasers were in the eye of the storm. 

Often we feel that the storms of our life are fierce and leave nothing but debris in its wake.  But, because we know from where our protection comes – we can find and feel the shelter He provides.  He is our safe place – our STORM SHELTER.
