Giving It Away

A powerful chorus I remember singing as a teenager said, “We life our hearts (& hands) before You as a token of our love.”  The Spirit of God would flood the sanctuary each and every time we sing it.  “AS A TOKEN OF OUR LOVE” resonates in my Spirit to this day!

I remember early on in ministry the Lord spoke to me to give away something that was special to me.  I have to be honest with you – it was a real sacrifice to me!  It was certainly against my human nature.  Yet, I knew that surrendering my plans or possessions to benefit someone else – and as the song says to offer the desires of our heart for another’s sake – shows our ultimate devotion.

Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that our hearts reveal our true character.  When we are reminded that our hearts reveal true character.  When we give our hearts to Christ, it not only speaks of our genuine dedication, but it results in a change of loyalty.  Through our act of obedience, the Holy Spirit is then able to create within us a pure heart and spirit.  God changes us and we can truly serve Him – renewed, restored, and transformed.

God is pleased when we give Him our all in love and devotion.  I challenge you to think about a wholehearted commitment that will change your life and influence the people around you?
