So, Let the Sun Shine In…

1 John 4:12  (NIV)

12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

When I was a kid we’d sing, “So, let the sun shine in face it with a grim, smilers never lose and frowners never win…”  Living down south, we are always eagerly awaiting colder weather because our summer heat is grueling.  What we aren’t prepared for is the gray & overcast skies.  In an attempt to cope, we travel to tropical climates and vacation somewhere more southern and some visit their local tanning salons.  None of this works to restore us our need for sunshine.  The first few days of spring, warm us with sunny days and invigorating, revitalizing and refreshing us.  Suddenly everything seems new again, because there’s no substitute for the sun.

There is no substitute for Jesus either.  Nothing or no one else will fill the void.  Christ’s resurrection made a way for us to be children of light.  His love makes our joy and contentment possible, brightening even the harshest days with a hope that does not fade.

Just remember, because He shines within us, we are never without hope.
